I used to pride myself on my brutal frankness. I was east-coast candid, tell it like it is, don’t beat around the bush. I love it when people set me straight with a tough and clear message.

However, I learned that alotof people really get upset by that style of communication. I learned that those people regarded my “honest” communication as thoughtless and cruel. In retrospect, it was. I gave no thought tohowI delivered the message, satisfied that I had been clear and honest.

When delivering any message, the message should be tailored for the audience.It’s just a sign of respect. Assuming that all people want to hear messages the same way that you do is ignorant at best, and vicious at worst.
